On the Hoshi-to-Mori Poetry Recitation Society (Club) Hoshi-to-Mori holds several Tanka parties in a year such as singing Tanka parties and various other Tanka parties. English Tanka are sung with melodies. Japanese Tanka are recited in conformity with the ancient music, and sometimes we enjoy singing impromptu songs of our own composing. Out of the wish to thicken the strata of singing or reciting Tanka, we dream of organizing "Hoshi-to-Mori Recitation Society." Anyone who comes under the following conditions and is interested in this plan, please get in touch with us. ◎Who has a vocalist experience or the equivalent. ◎Who has the experiences in poetry recitation or the equivalent. ◎Who loves singing and is good at it. ◎Who is able to attend lessons(about 3 hours a day)once or twice a month(Lesson days will be on Saturday, Sunday, or on weekdays from 7:00P.M.). ◎Irrespective of age or sex. ◎No membership fee, no other expenses. The Activities Aim of the Hoshi-to-Mori Recitation Society 　Japan is our loved homeland. We believe that the nucleus of the Japanese culture is in Tanka. As there is the character meaning "song" in the Tanka's Kanji Characters, Tanka is not the poem of reading the impression of the composed characters, but originally the one of being sung, we consider. We also think that the secret of the fixed form poem-Tanka-is applicable not only to the Japanese language but also to the foreign languages. As we actually sing Tanka both in Japanese and English, we can get stronger impression than as we read them. We believe that through singing Tanka we can go back to the starting point of joy in common to both cultures. Organizing the Hoshi-to-Mori Recitation Society consists in creating a spot where people would be delighted to sing poems by holding a Tanka party of high quality. Together with thoughtful people in Japan, and with thoughtful people in the world, we would like to feel the joy of living together through singing excellent fixed form poems (Tanka) which are the cries from hearts. For this purpose we are aiming at the line activites to hold Tanka parties at several embassies in Japan, and at several educational institutions. We also hope to hold our Tanka parties overseas.
